Wine and food

Among silver olive trees and vineyards, between farms and mines, the Strada del Vino e dei Sapori Moneregio Massa Marittima winds in the territories of eight municipalities in the province of Grosseto: only one DOC made of 8 different wines, a product that communicates flavors and aromas of a land rich in natural beauty, vast territories and beautiful, harmonious hills, tradition, memory and the past, but also changes and innovative perspectives.

Just north, the vineyards are more noble and the DOC (in this area they are 4) the most prestigious: between Suvereto and Bolgheri and up to Montescudaio there are wines such as Sassicaia or l’Ornellaia which are among the best in the world, together with many other quality wine production. Here too, a generous nature in climate and in the talent of producers is certainly the basis for such a surprising result.

A little further south, where the woods still smell wild and the agricolture is still a mainstay of the economy, the Strada del Vino Colli di Maremma colleague 13 towns and 4 DOC, with a wine that is climbing the top of excellence while is helping to raise awareness of the territory in which it is born.

The culinary tradition of Tuscany is reach at least as the one linked to the artistic heritage … Every village has its own materpiece of art and its own recipe, especially in Maremma, where the sea meets the land, fish and meat are cooked with knowledge in every house and even more in restaurants and taverns where wisdom joins the inspiration. Obviously the fish is the king on the coast, while meat, especially hunting prey and especially the wild boar is the protagonist of the inland cuisine, you will find it in appetizers, in the first dishes as the seasoning of the homemade pasta and of among the main courses. For the sweet we use to have a slice of good cheese accompanied by honey, but there are tarts jam, pine nuts and real chocolate treats like peaches or “salami”.
